CHRISTENE IS A WRITER + ADVISOR.
By linking things like memory, design, history, and identity, Christene's built a career sparking new pathways for storytelling + connection. When she isn’t writing, she's helping other founders and future-facing brands tap into their own unique stories—unlocking fresh ideas and perspectives with the power to move and shape us, through birth, growth, and change.
Christene spent 15 years as co-founder and EIC of Refinery29—conceiving
and building it from a startup into an award-winning global
entertainment leader that pioneered a new era of women’s content in the
digital age. In 2019, R29 was acquired by Vice Media Group. Across her
brand work, she's been a strategic advisor for such innovators as
Target, Cerebelly, Yola Mezcal, ShopShops, Thrive Market, and more.
In 2022, Christene launched A Tiny Apt.,
a weekly newsletter that invites readers to think about space, personal
style, and the circular economy—aka: second-hand
everything—differently. Today, A Tiny Apt. is a Substack best-seller,
ranked in the Top 10 of Substack's Design category.
Christene lives in Brooklyn with her family, where she writes, thrifts, and is known to host the occasional sidewalk sale.
